ESPN mic

sticking to this week’s theme: it’s an ESPN mic. If I had taken a shot of another, I’d have mic and mic… Hopefully, I’ll be there early enough Friday morning to catch the real Mike and Mike radio show: XLV is here !!!

There’s a good chance my posts this week will be centered around the Superbowl. Come to think of it, quite a few of my posts are sports-related. Superbowl XLV (45) is one week away. (AKA North Texas Superbowl XLV). Fort Worth is a buzz. Dallas, Arlington, Irving, and surrounding areas are all gearing up this week for superfestivities…and super traffic. I read a small editorial piece in D magazine (Dallas magazine) claiming how Dallas is THE football capital of the world. The author isn’t hating on Fort Worth, but he can’t stand the fact the ESPN snubbed Dallas, and chose Sundance Square in Fort Worth to host their programming ALL week. Funkytown-Cowtown-Fort Worth, is where it’s at ! So come on down ! As the cowboys say, ” Come on back now, ya hear ! “

This Old Town

Some images taken in and around Old Town Keller. This is an area gem in north Fort Worth, technically ‘across the tracks’, in Keller, TX. Full of little eateries, antique stores, local art work – Old Town Keller offers a great pedestrian friendly experience. From Manny G’s, or “manny’s” as locals call it, Christy’s Corner boutique, Cupcake Creations, to Cowboy Cones & Candy .  This place JUST opened few weeks ago before Christmas 2010. Super friendly service, AND great selection of candy: from Big League Chew, Clark Bar, Big Hunky, sugar-free selections, too. Furthermore, there are plenty of antique stores to acquire priceless items !

Jerry Jones, can you please buy me a ticket?

I was perusing my friend’s ticket website: Fansnap.com; (he’s a cofounder: good site!) looking for Superbowl XLV tickets. I stumbled upon the image below. Another friend (loco4burritos) jokingly said: “The $93,000 handling fee is a bargain!!!” What exactly does that mean? Will Aaron Rodgers, Hines Ward, and cheerleaders personally hand deliver the tickets to me? Mr Jerry Jones, can you please buy me a ticket? (Honestly, if I got the ticket, I would donate it to someone.) Furthermore, I read that the NFL is selling $200 tickets to stand OUTSIDE the stadium to watch game on TV. AND, it will count towards total attendance which Mr. Jones wants to break. Previous record set in Rose Bowl in 1980 (I think): 103,000. How does that make sense? Like a viewer on TV said, “If a student is in the parking lot of school, but doesn’t actually go inside, does that count as being in attendance?”  Don’t get me wrong, the Cowboys stadium is a beautiful work of art. Frankly, a modern wonder of the world to some degree….I’m just being a hater, and jealous of those getting to go the game. 😉

Global eggplant

seen at the new Kroger Marketplace in Alliance Town Center, north Fort Worth. This is a Chinese Eggplant, a product of Mexico at a grocery store in the USA. Good stuff. (And I dislike eggplant…); CLICK ON IMAGE
