Love shack to the left
Love Shack (burger joint) was voted recently #8 in dfw.com’s battle of the burgers….this is its newest location in Fort Worth’s So7 area.

the holy symbol
for the canine lovers: Located 5-10 miles east of FW,North Richland Hills is home to an area dog park.: Tipps Canine Hollow Dog Park…
(There are some nice dog parks in FW proper as well…)

Travelling in groups of four, these little yellow maintenance trains (?) were spotted on the FW/Keller train tracks off 377 and North Tarrant Pkwy.

FW police elevated lookout
Seen at the gym I frequently visit, this FW police lookout station monitors the area of recent flurries of break-ins. I was a victim few days before new year’s eve last year…The idiots are quite brazen considering such a high traffic area.

The iconic signage

Hilarious Roosevelt anecdote
To borrow a line from Chik-fil-A’s hilarious ad campaign, the first picture is of the Famous Riscky’s Steakhouse. Riscky’s BBQ is even better from what I understand. The steakhouse wasn’t bad either, but we thought we were at the bbq location which was about a block down. (If only the Chik-fil-A cows could see the Fort Worth Stockyards.)These are some of the pictures taken at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I did not spend as much time as I would’ve like to. One HAS to visit the Stockyards of Fort Worth. Another gem of this charming city, a “stockyard stroll” will make you feel like a little kid all over again. There is history, cowboy texas trail of fame, quotation signages, horses, cows, trains, you name it. Few hours here, and you’ll know why Fort Worth is called Cowtown. (It is also called funkytown, and future pics will depict that.)

organized signage
This is one of many signs in and around the Fort Worth area reflective of its growth. The signage also serves a purpose of decluttering those annoying small signs stagger-stacked on street sides. (whew-say that last part 10times)

If A-rod* was a chocolate truffle
I know I had promised to stray from mindless jibber jabber, but in light of valentines day and the recent A-rod bombshell, I couldn’t resist this picture. I took my other 1/3 to a Central Market cooking class in Southlake (few minutes from FW) as an early valentines day gift. Tonight’s class: hands-on making chocolate truffle. With my manhood still intact, I couldn’t help but take the chef’s “Do whatever you want with the soft chocolate truffle…” literally. I thought ‘outside the box.’ I couldn’t help but think of the steroid scandal and A-roid’s* recent confession. So, I proceeded to make a truffle of a chocolate figurine on roids. He’s sitting next ot his dog – I hadn’t put the eyes on it yet at this point. I texted the picture to a buddy of mine, and he replied, “Dude, wtf is that?” Hence, this evening’s entry. Thanks, Ra! *

IH (International Harvester) MRAP
*** do you get the feeling I take a lot of these pics while driving? not good! but the spontaneity of it all***
I took this picture earlier while driving to work on Hwy 35W South near downtown Fort Worth. (pic taken from my Sprint Treo 750(?) I’m not too sure exactly what vehicle this is, but I hope it doesn’t morph into a Hummer 6 later on. Well, if it ran on an energy-friendly fuel at a good price, I’d consider purchasing one. There is a joint reserve base in fort worth: NAS JRB Fort Worth. The space shuttle actually made a recent stop there. My neighbor is in the United State Marine Corps. He and his wife are a wonderful couple, and it is great hearing stories of his service I was rather excited seeing this today, especially since the trailer for GI Joe came out recently. I’ve just dated myself, I know…I grew up with GI Joe, Transformers, GoBots, etc….

irony
As you can deduce, I am of Indian-American descent. As the bumper stickers around here are stated, “ I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!“
Where I live is technically in Fort Worth; however, we are ’serviced’ by the Keller post office. The wonderful town of Keller is across the tracks. My other half (or if we did it by size proportions-my other 1/3) always says that Keller isn’t really much of a diverse town, but every time we drive by this water tower, we share a moment of laughter. I always tell her, “See honey, Keller is the home of the Indians!” Keller recently made the news when its school district announced it would not show the presidential inauguration in local schools. I believe the rationale was because it didn’t fit the curriculum and would take away from ample teacher time. However, after much deliberation, the school district overturned its original decision. I’m sure it was to prevent a visit from Christiane Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, or possibly some sort of commendation from area Dittoheads. Political idiosyncracies aside, the citizens of Keller are wonderful, and the town has a unique charm. Bear Creek Park is a great family venue, the antique stores are a hidden gem, and the barbecue is to die for. Yet, we have more to explore of this little town with local history, and a promising future with its continued growth !
