Another downtown icon…Fort Worth United Methodist Church. Absolutely serene.

Sundance Scooter
Driving near downtown Fort Worth, I stumbled up on Sundance Scooters…Awesome owners, cool place, contemplating getting one. Check out there website here.

seen on bank of Trinity River north of FW
On drive to work recently, I saw this promo for Fort Worth’s mayfest. Painted in yellow on the banks of Trinity River just north of FW. You can see the Courthouse building in the background, and yet another sign of future growth (construction crane.) Mayfest is next week. We missed the other well-known Arts Festival last week. These two back to back events make Funkytown a happening place!!!

"inside" the plaza
Check out the website for Montgomery Plaza, located 0.5 miles west of downtown Fort Worth. This picture was taken on a rainy day, but a great cool plaza with shops, residences, and eateries.

FW police elevated lookout
Seen at the gym I frequently visit, this FW police lookout station monitors the area of recent flurries of break-ins. I was a victim few days before new year’s eve last year…The idiots are quite brazen considering such a high traffic area.

Driving through Trophy Club, TX,(few miles north of FW) I found this camel sharing some green time with local buffalo. (not anything to do with Camel Trophy Club) I don’t know who owns this land, what kind of camel it is, or where it’s from…
*thanks to commenter,K,: this is Ross Perot Jr.’s land and camel. *

tightening ?

loosening?
*** The image to the far left taken from online site: Godspeaks.com. The image to the right of a nontheist billboard campaign taken off Hwy 35W few blocks before Meacham Blvd heading north, ironically, near the Fort Worth Gentleman’s Club ***
9/11, the economy, cancer, death of innocence(or innocents), etc…can lead one to side with the billboard on the right. A lighthouse in trouble waters, being saved in a catastrophic event, unexpected fortune, successes, happiness, etc…can lead one to side with the ubiquitous God Speaks billboard campaign on left. (The size of the photo has nothing to do with level of importance, for you naysayers out there, I just couldn’t find a God billboard near my daily commute. Maybe God’s true “billboard” is the sun, the sky, the moon, the air you breathe, etc.) I’m not too sure where Fort Worth falls in the Bible Belt, but I do wonder have we “slacked off” on our faiths in some supreme being? Depending on your views, and convictions, how would (or could) you truly define true “faith?” Is it a fallacy, or is it a truth? A timeless question indeed….

(Another great local eatery in Fort Worth.) Ironically, located few blocks north of Paul’s donuts. Maybe it’s just a common theme in Fort Worth, but Paris Coffee Shop has great service and wonderful food.
***disclaimer: I am not a foodie…I like to eat…well, I love to eat. But, I do exercise, and taking pictures of gyms would be a little boring, no? ***

The iconic signage

Hilarious Roosevelt anecdote
To borrow a line from Chik-fil-A’s hilarious ad campaign, the first picture is of the Famous Riscky’s Steakhouse. Riscky’s BBQ is even better from what I understand. The steakhouse wasn’t bad either, but we thought we were at the bbq location which was about a block down. (If only the Chik-fil-A cows could see the Fort Worth Stockyards.)These are some of the pictures taken at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I did not spend as much time as I would’ve like to. One HAS to visit the Stockyards of Fort Worth. Another gem of this charming city, a “stockyard stroll” will make you feel like a little kid all over again. There is history, cowboy texas trail of fame, quotation signages, horses, cows, trains, you name it. Few hours here, and you’ll know why Fort Worth is called Cowtown. (It is also called funkytown, and future pics will depict that.)

Inner city vacation spot
The image to the right is the entrance/exit to the great Fort Worth Zoo. This place is phenomenal. . I spent about 2.5 hrs there recently, and for awhile I completely forgot I was in Fort Worth. I really thought I was on vacation somewhere else. The zoo hosts a Zoo Run: 10k/5k/1k run in which part of the race is through the zoo. The next one is on April 18, 2009. Check it out.
